This project is a dining restaurant which has only one large communal dining table. We tried to design using a sense of distance in this restaurant by manipulating the scale of the table.
The concept of this restaurant is to provide the guests chances to communicate with each other. To realize this, we considered the best sense of distance or personal space among the guests. We extended the scale of the table a little bit compared to the scale of typical dining tables.
The client very much wants the guests to discover art, music, and chance encounters while they enjoy eating dishes that he serves with vegetables. We express this feeling in the word “cultivate” which represents the table design.

テーブルのスケールを操作することで、この場におこるさまざまな行為の距離感をデザインしようとしている。
一般的な飲食店のテーブルよりスケールを少しだけ拡張させたテーブルによって、この場のコンセプトに最適な距離感、あるいは親近感を与えようと考えた。
ゲストに新鮮な野菜を使った料理を楽しんでもらいながら、出会い・音楽・芸術を見つる場であって欲しい、というクライアントの思いを「cultivate」という言葉で表し、テーブルに込めた。
