Sakura / Gelato shop
Could we create a place as comfortable as our living room in our town? The client hoped to provide a gelato for their close neighborhood and to introduce Italian food culture. This means that the shop would not only provide a gelato, but also be a place considered as the living room in their town.
We proposed that four cubes be put along the front of the street so that guests can access this shop more easily. The four cubes have large openings. Each one functions as entrance, terrace, and eat-in-space. They are a buffer zone, fostering a good relationship between this shop and the town. They could seamlessly connect to their town through these cubes.
In addition, we made an attempt to strength the identity of this shop. We designed graphics, signs, and furniture synthetically. They were designed based on the key words “living room” and “communication.” We adopted the design vocabulary for the external appearance. You don’t get used to seeing it in this town. We hope the architectural design expresses this leading regional produce project visually.

街における接点のデザインとして、アクセスビリティーを高めるために大きさの違う4つのキューブを歩道に沿って設け、それぞれ大きな開口を持つエントランス・テラス・客室とした。4つのキューブは歩道とのバッファーゾーンとなり、街と店舗がシームレスに繋がることができる。キューブ同士をゆるやかに連続させ、街の中にいながらリビングルームにいるような場所をつくった。この手法は街との接続と同時に客席数を確保し、ゆったりとしたイートインスペースを実現させた。また、ロゴ・サイン・家具を今回のテーマである『リビング』や『コミュニケーション』といったコンセプトで総合的なデザインをし、店舗のアイデンティティーを強める試みを行った。この地域にないデザインボキャブラリーを用いた建築デザインは、地域プロデュースのリーディングプロジェクトとしての役割を視覚的に強めている。
